Simple, fast, fun, well built, and affordable
Purchased this for the grand kids for Thanksgiving vacation. It was an immediate hit with children and adults alike. I purchased a PS5 as an early Christmas for them as well and this has been played as much if not more. Some areas for improvement could be a volume control and the ability to repeat the previous game without navigating through all game selections. This is especially true since trainer game is last on the list of games. Otherwise a great, simple, compact game that is hours not minutes of fun.

More fun than I expected
The Hypershot tabletop hockey game from Hasbro is rather simple in it’s design, but provides some fast paced fun when you are looking for something a little more interactive than a slow board game. The Hypershot comes in a box with minimal assembly required. First, you need to open the cover and insert 3 AA batteries (not included). You’ll also need to slide the two black feet to their outermost position and then attach the thick blue rubber band to the underside of the feet. Last, you can attach the two blue barrier rails to each side. The game comes with two slider pucks. The pucks are all plastic and have tiny plastic ball bearings on the underside. You need to position the Hypershot in the middle of a table, turn it on with the one button, and then hit the button to select the game you want. There are 4 games that are all a subtle variation of the same theme – basically, there are blue circle LED lights on the top of the Hypershot. You need to slide the puck to hit the area right underneath the blue light. Usually that means you light up a red “point” LED light on your side of the Hypershot. Most games require you to get 4 red points, or to hit sections to remove all the red lights. When you slide the puck under the Hypershot, the thick rubber band bounces it back to you. I think there are infrared sensors underneath that pick up if your puck hit the correct area. You need to slide the pucks with a medium level of force so they hit the rubber band and bounce all the way back to you.Ideally, I think you should play on a 4-5 table. Play on a table any longer than that and it becomes a real challenge to accurately hit the right spots on the Hypershot. It can be fun to play on an 8 foot long table, but only for serious players. If you play on a short 3 foot table it might be too short to have fun.For the price, the game is pretty fun in short bursts. It’s not anything that you are going to want to play for 30 minutes straight, but for 8-10 minutes to get a couple rounds in, not bad. I only have two small issues with it. First, I love that they thought about storage for the device. The black feet slide inward for storage, and the two pucks can slide into slots on the feet. That’s great. What isn’t great is that it is really difficult to get the black feet to slide all the way out. Even more difficult is getting the red pucks out of storage. If you have 7 or 8 year olds playing, they will struggle to get those pucks out because they are held tightly and at an awkward angle. So great storage ideas, just not quite executed well. And finally, I worry about the durability of the thick blue rubber band underneath. If that breaks, the device is a paperweight. I’m not sure if Hasbro will sell replacement rubber bands, but rubber bands can become dry and frail over time. We’ll see how long the Hypershot lasts in that regard. I think you can get a couple years out of it with normal use, but not sure how it will hold up longer than that.So overall, I think the game is unique and fun. The shortcomings aren’t too bad, so I’m giving it a solid 4-stars.

Originally I bought this for Christmas, but wanted to let the family try it out for Thanksgiving break. We just got it out and they LOVE IT! So many game modes. My son loves air hockey and this was a great alternative with more game options! Love how small it is to store as well.I was not given this product for a review..I just really think it’s a wonderful game for Christmas!

SO FUN!
Ok, this game is so fun! I love it, my 8 and 10 year olds love it, and so do our friends! I show every single person that comes over.Once you get the hang of it, which is quickly, all of the two player games will have you playing again and again. And then there is the âtrainerâ gameâ¦which is solo. My kids and I have competitions with this to see who can get the highest number!I am so glad that I ran across Hypershotâ¦definitely worth it!
