It works great, butâ¦
UPDATE II: After months of waiting for Chamberlain to fix the video delete function, they finally did it! Iâm now VERY happy with ALL of my Chamberlain/MyQ devices and rate them 5 stars. I only hope the app developers learned a valuable lessonâ¦IF IT AINâT BROKE, DONâT FIX IT!UPDATE: my original post stands, and now for the reason I changed the rating to 2 stars: The software engineers and/or App developers put out a change to the already-working-just-fine MyQ App which removes the ability to BULK DELETE videos. You can only delete videos one-by-one, which, if you have 50, 100 or in my latest experience, well over a hundred recorded videos, youâll spend 30-45 minutes or more, clearing videos from your storage account. The only other option is to delete them every single day, which is another pain in the burro. And hereâs the kickerâ¦Chamberlain has known for several months that this is a HUGE issue for users of their camera products, but has failed to fix the App in spite of too-numerous-to-count complaints on the App Store reviews. Chamberlain told me two months ago that they were aware of this problem and were working to resolve it. BULL! Two months later and it still isnât fixed. All they had to do was issue another update, turning back the clock to the previous version. They arenât fixing anything because, hey, they got their money for the cameras, so why fix anything?PREVIOUS REVIEW:This video keypad is fantastic in all respects but one, which I will address later in this review. Video quality is great, audio is crystal clear and easy to communicate with delivery people, etc. Iâm glad I opted to upgrade from the basic keypad Iâve had for years. Setup was easy as well. Now for the shortcoming: although the battery lasts quite a long time (mine has been going for over 3 months before needing charging), it takes 10+ hours to recharge. That means no keypad or surveillance available all day (or night if youâre charging at night). And, to my knowledge and experience, the only way youâll know the battery needs charging is a notification on your phone that the keypad is off line.To solve this issue, one must buy a second battery, keep it charged up, and swap batteries when the active one goes dead. Thatâs a $30 expense that I would rather have not had, but the alternative of no video surveillance and no keypad leaves no choice. And thatâs why I gave this otherwise stellar device 4 stars instead of 5.

Battery Life Poor & A Hassle
It functions, does fine. I like being able to set/change codes, share app/access with family, and use it as a smart garage doorbell.I did not opt to stay with the surveillance / motion detector cloud based service after the free trial. The video quality was good, and nothing wrong with service. But it eats up the battery fast & I already have a camera for the front of my house whose battery life is great with very high resolution. Most importantly, the battery life (even without the service) is not that great. And then you have to take the battery out for up to 8-10 hours to recharge (their stated time to recharge), meaning your video keypad is dead (and the fee based cloud service if you opted for such). Or for another $34 you can buy an extra battery (which I did, since frankly one would rather just swap battery out and recharge for the next swap, though I was not happy about it & I think its overpriced, but since it proprietary no choice). But seriously, this device should have come with a direct USB power option. Like my garage, I’m sure it would be easy for most to drill a small hole behind where the video keypad was to be mounted. Then use the USB to connect to a AC adapter, or maybe a more powerful battery, or whatever else is available now or in the future. What is the purpose of having a smart & automated home if you have to keep on paying attention to batteries, etc. every couple weeks! Also, keypad could be permanently mounted as opposed to using a security screw that anyone with a Philips could remove.I think this would have helped sell their cloud based service too. It was a tad pricy for me and I had other options, but I would have considered the service more more if I did not have to hassle with removing the security screw on the bottom, pulling the device off, removing the battery, charging for 8-10 hours, having no keypad access or camera operation (as well as the cloud service you’re paying for) for 8-10 hours, then having to hassle with the security screw on the bottom again to reinstall. Seriously, I wonder what engineer on their staff thought this was a good implementation.Update: Even with all possible controls given, the battery just goes low too often. Would be ok if I could just turn off all the video/audio/etc & just use as a keypad with access notifications. Now I’m just going to junk it.

Vey simple setup!
Iâm pretty tech savvy, but always worried that a new device might not be very intuitive. This was absolutely not the case with this product, once you download the app it walks you through everything you need to do in order to get this working. The only downside was that the battery is absolutely massive and took multiple hours to charge so I couldnât get this set up right away after opening the box. And honestly, thatâs more my problem than the productâs problem. So far, it works exactly as advertised, and was just what I needed. I initially contemplated just going with a keypad, but this is a much better solution and for nearly the same price, at least on sale.

Good. Not Great.
Working well to replace a standard wireless pin pad that came with my opener and seemed to eat 9V batteries every week or two. I donât really use this for the camera so I turned down/off all alerts and the battery is still at 70% nearly two months later. I use it on average of daily to open/close the garage. It does take forever to charge so Iâm not thrilled about having it out of commission when I eventually have to plug it in but I canât justify the expense of an extra battery to swap since it seems like I wonât have to do that too often. For some reason, the WiFi connection really struggles even though nothing else in my house has issues and itâs right next to the room with my primary router access point. Constantly shows âfairâ connection or offline but doesnât seem to affect the connection to the opener, just being able to use the app to stream video. If I didnât have to connect it to WiFi to set it up, I never would have.
